Hendersonville (5 minutes) Hendersonville's popularity began in the early 1900s as a summer retreat for the Charleston elite. Today, you can still enjoy the cool breezes, authentic Southern hospitality, mountain charm and historic architecture of this 150-year-old city.Antique shops, craft shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafés, bakeries, a general store, a dine-in movie theatre and an elaborate streetscape add to the character of Hendersonville's Main Street. Restaurants Biltmore Estate, Gardens & Winery (25 minutes) This 250-room chalet built by George Vanderbilt in 1895 is full of artwork and antiques. Restaurants, garden, winery and shops are part of the 8,000-acre estate.Chimney Rock Park (25 minutes) An elevator ride takes you up 26 stories through and to the top of the chimney for 75-mile views, 1,000-acres of trails, waterfalls and wildflowers.Connemara (5 minutes) The home of poet, historian, author and Pulitzer Prize winner Carl Sandburg. Over 50 years performing to sell-out crowds.Brevard Music Center (20 minutes) Home of the South's most exciting classical music festival with more than 70 events from opera to symphony, Broadway to Pops.Pisgah National Forest (15 minutes) An 11-mile stretch of US 276 includes campsites, picnic sites, tubing, Pisgah Center, Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, Pink Beds and the Cradle of Forestry.Asheville, North Carolina (25 minutes) This city of about 70,000 features nightclubs, galleries, grand resorts, restaurants, shops, theatres and much more.Greenville, South Carolina (35 minutes) Visitors to Greater Greenville will have no problem filling the days and evenings with every kind of leisure activity.
