When was Champion Hills established and who owns it?
Champion Hills began in 1988 as a local venture by a small group of investors who believed this unique corner of Western North Carolina could yield an amazing golf experience. Tom Fazio was so inspired by the land that he joined the project as both designer and investor in 1989. In 1992, The Branigar Organization, a subsidiary of Union Camp Corporation, purchased Champion Hills and built a strong foundation for its growth. By 2001, Champion Hills Club was entirely member-owned. Today, Champion Hills is a debt-free community and a premier country club that is entirely owned by its members. [back to top]
